Aileen joined the Poe Kiely Hogan Lanigan team in 2023, and established the firm’s Immigration Department.
She came to PKHL with over 10 years’ experience working as a solicitor, having trained with one of Ireland’s largest corporate law firms and having spent the last 7 years specialising in immigration law.
Aileen has significant experience in all aspects of immigration law; EU treaty rights residence applications, employment permits, visas, naturalisation, citizenship, foreign birth registration, family reunification applications and all types of residency applications (Irish citizen child, Stamp 0, change of immigration status, etc). She is adept at all types of immigration applications and has successfully represented clients in a variety of statutory and administrative immigration appeals and High Court Judicial Review applications.
Aileen is passionate about rights-based legal issues and this is what drives her practice of immigration law. She volunteered with FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centre) for many years and, more recently, has taken pro-bono immigration cases for Crosscare, and the Public Interest Law Alliance.
Aileen lectures on the Law Society of Ireland’s Certificate in Immigration Law and Practice and is a founding committee member and current Secretary of the Irish Immigration Lawyers Association.
Aileen also works in the area of general litigation and employment law.
Outside of work, Aileen lives in the Carlow countryside with her family. She is a keen runner and athletics fan, and likes to try her hand at gardening at home. Her favourite quote is “from little things, big things grow”. This helps her to keep the faith that one day, she might actually become a good gardener.

I just wanted to say how happy we were with the service Keith provided when we were changing our mortgage earlier this year. Keith’s efforts were of the highest standard. He was extremely fast, helpful and professional in his approach. Things were getting tight because of interest rate deadlines and Keith really helped to get it over the line. This will save us a lot of money over the course of the 7 year fixed term. I would highly recommend PKHL to anyone considering moving house or remortgaging their home.
We can’t thank Annette enough for all her hard work and assistance. From the very start Annette made us feel comfortable on our surrogacy journey.Highly recommend Annette and team to couples starting their journey.
Martin J Crotty, Solicitor of Poe Kiely Hogan Lanigan Solicitors has acted for me and my parents for well over 30 years and we have found Martin to be very courteous, professional and precise with all legal work he has done for us. We would highly recommend Martin to anyone who is looking for their legal affairs to be attended to in a timely and accurate manner
Poe Kiely Hogan Lanigan has worked with us on a number of different matters, particularly commercial contracts and property matters. They tend to have specialists in each area which means we get the benefit of a very high level of expertise. We find them very responsive to our requirements, they quickly understand what has to be done and deliver the outcomes we need without delay. We value their assistance highly, and I would not hesitate to give them my recommendation.
