Meet The Speakers: Surrogacy Information Morning for Intending Parents

On Saturday, 19 September 2026, Poe Kiely Hogan Lanigan will host a Surrogacy Information Morning for Intending Parents at Killashee House Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare.

The morning will bring together legal professionals, parents through surrogacy and representatives from some of Ireland’s leading surrogacy and fertility support organisations to share their knowledge, experience and perspectives with those considering or currently embarking on a surrogacy journey.

With changes taking place in the legal landscape for surrogacy in Ireland, the event is designed to provide clear, practical information on the issues intending parents need to understand – from the current legal framework and the Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Act 2024 to the Irish court process and the practical realities of building a family through surrogacy.

We are delighted to introduce the speakers and panellists who will be joining us.

Aileen Gittens will open the event before discussing International and Domestic Surrogacy in 2026 – A Legal and Practical Roadmap.

As Partner and Head of Surrogacy, Aileen works with individuals and couples navigating the legal complexities associated with surrogacy and pathways to parenthood. Her session will provide an overview of the current landscape and some of the important legal and practical considerations for intending parents.

We are delighted to welcome Cathy Wheatley, a parent through surrogacy and spokesperson for the Irish Families Through Surrogacy (IFTS) and Amy Hamilton White, a parent through surrogacy and committee member with IFTS.

Together they will bring an invaluable parent perspective to the morning, sharing insights informed by their own experiences of surrogacy and their work supporting and representing Irish families.

Seamus Kearney Martone, a parent through surrogacy & adoption and chairperson of Irish Gay Dads, will be joined by John Hickey-Moriarty, also a parent through surrogacy and committee member.

Their contribution will provide another important lived-experience, looking at surrogacy from the viewpoint of parents who have travelled the journey themselves and who now work to support other families.

Caitríona Fitzpatrick is a Board Member of the National Infertility Support & Information Group (NISIG). Her participation will add an important fertility-support perspective to the morning and to the wider discussion around the different pathways available to people hoping to build their families.

The first legal panel will focus on the Irish court process, an area of particular importance to families pursuing surrogacy arrangements. The panel discussion will feature:

Ger Fahy, Poe Kiely Hogan Lanigan

Lyndsey Keogh BL, Barrister-at-Law

Keith Linehan BL, Barrister-at-Law

Together, the panel will discuss the Irish court process and provide practical insight into the legal procedures that intending parents may encounter.

Annette Hickey, Partner at Poe Kiely Hogan Lanigan, will be joined by Mark Lynam SC, Senior Counsel, for a discussion on the Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Act 2024 and a look to the future.

This session will examine the evolving legislative framework for assisted human reproduction and surrogacy in Ireland, what the changes mean for families, and some of the important issues that lie ahead.

The Surrogacy Information Morning takes place at Killashee House Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare, on Saturday, 19 September 2026.

The main event runs from 10.00am to 1.00pm, with registration and refreshments from 9.30am. One-to-one consultations will also be available from 1.30pm to 4.00pm (must be booked in advance). One to one consultations at this event are now full. However, consultations can be arranged via zoom thereafter by contacting gfahy@pkhl.ie

We look forward to welcoming intending parents, families and others interested in learning more about surrogacy in Ireland to what promises to be an informative and valuable morning.
